We are seeking an experienced combustion CFD engineer with strong skills in industrial furnace and Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) modeling to join our CFD consulting team. The candidate will be responsible for combustion simulations, model development, and validation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform CFD simulations of combustion processes in furnaces and SMRs using commercial CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, etc.
- Develop and validate combustion models, including reaction kinetics, flame stability, heat transfer, and emissions predictions.
- Analyze and optimize burner design, furnace operation, and reformer performance for improved efficiency and reduced emissions.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including process engineers, experimentalists, and clients.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings effectively.
Contribute to the advancement of combustion CFD methodologies and best practices within the company.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline with experience in combustion modeling.
- Strong background in CFD combustion simulations and industrial furnace/SMR processes.
- Proficiency with commercial CFD software and combustion modeling modules.

Description:
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Engineer to design, operate, and maintain large-scale experimental test facilities. The role involves hands-on experimental work, coordination with vendors, instrumentation development, and data analysis to support cutting-edge fluid flow and process engineering studies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design and maintenance of large-scale experimental setup
- Perform design and feasibility calculations for test loops
- Co-ordinate with different vendors, subcontractors to supervise the construction of the test facilities
- Prepare PFD, P&ID for the test loops
- Discuss the test objectives with client and evolve an experimental plan/strategy
- Perform experiments using sophisticated measurement techniques such as High- Speed Photography, Ultrasound Velocity Profiles, Wire Mesh Sensor, etc
- Assist in development of instrumentation techniques such as Conductivity Probes, Isokinetic Probes, etc.
- Perform test as per the guidance of the facility manager
- Record and maintain experimental and utility data sheets
- Timely completion of experiments
- Trouble shooting and fixing of small issues on the loop
- Keeping track of day-to-day inventory required and raising early flags
- Effectively utilizing monthly loop expenses to ensure smooth loop running
- Regularly calibrating all instruments on the loop and maintaining a data base
- Be active in planning and scheduling experiments along with facility manager
- Timely reporting of deliverable to client
- Communicate and present the updates on the work status
- Data QA/QC at first level Data pre processing
- Experimental raw and pre-processed data management
- Follow safety norms while operating/monitoring experimental loop and utilities
Desired Skills:
- Proven project execution and delivery skills

Essential Duties and Key Competencies:
- Deliver on combustion modeling projects using computational fluid dynamic-based formulations, from geometry preparation to simulation, post-processing, and report preparation.
- Use state-of-the-art commercial tools like Ansys-FLUENT and STAR-CCM+ for project delivery.
- Develop a strategy for combustion models and add complexity in a stage-wise manner, interpreting results for combustion systems and analyzing data.
- Ensure project success by delivering quality output in a timely manner, with the ability to work long hours as needed.
- Ensure correctness of simulations to avoid exceeding delivery timelines or planned hardware and software resources.
- Work with team members on geometry or mesh preparation, providing clear instructions as part of team efforts.
- Track and manage project progress in terms of deliverables and provide regular updates to the team manager.
- Take overall responsibility for customer engagement and attend all project meetings to ensure smooth delivery and customer success.
- Be open to working on non-combustion projects as per company requirements.
- Develop best practices for combustion simulations, including meshing practices, choice of turbulence model, initialization, schemes, and convergence strategies.
- Focus on advanced models such as LES and use of actual species with multiple levels of reactions, keeping track of new developments in commercial tools.
- Understand the integration with other tools and lower-order models to develop faster models and generate quick understanding of the system.
- Plan resources and write proposals for different combustion modeling problems.
- Guide and coach team members, scheduling calls with clients to ensure smooth communication.
- Define and solve CFD problems in the combustion space, with technical soundness in heat transfer, mass transfer, and reactions.
Education/Skills/Experience:
- Master’s (with four to eight years of experience) or PhD (with four year of experience) from Chemical/Mechanical or Aerospace engineering discipline from reputed Institute.
- Experience in performing CFD based combustion analysis is required. Experience with gas fired burners, pre heaters, boilers is preferred.
