Purpose: We are seeking a skilled and experienced equipment designer to join our dynamic engineering team. His role is to develop equipment concept designs from customer requirements and constraints using CAD tools like Solid Edge. Select appropriate components for the equipment wherever necessary from the catalogs. Create CAD layouts, detailed drawings, and do manufacturability reviews.

Work includes creating 3D models and 2D drawings, evaluating feasibility and costs, supporting prototyping and testing, and ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of equipment design from the concept to manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

  • Create concept layouts and 3D CAD models of equipment, translating requirements into viable configurations and assemblies.
  • Produce detailed 2D drawings, manage BoMs, and maintain CAD/PDM data with proper revision control and traceability.
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations, fit/tolerance checks, and design feasibility assessments to meet functional and safety needs.
  • Support prototype build, verification, and test planning, documenting findings and implementing design changes as needed.
  • Lead and document design reviews, capture actions, and iterate designs to closure with stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs conform to applicable standards, regulations, and internal quality processes.
  • Plan and track personal deliverables to hit program milestones and on-time release goals.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • 3–5 years of mechanical/equipment design experience with proven CAD-driven product development.
  • Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or CATIA, with hands-on modeling and drafting expertise.
  • Experience generating production-ready drawings and controlling BoMs and revisions
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience optimizing concepts for cost and manufacturability, including tolerance/cost trade-offs.

Tools and software

  • CAD: SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or CATIA for 3D modeling and 2D

Reporting and collaboration

Reports to the Project Manager throughout the product lifecycle.

Location:  Pune, Maharashtra, India

Work Mode:  Work from Office
